Outdoor play has become quite the thing in our house at the moment. Mainly because inside our house during the day is freezing while outside is quite nice, sometimes even verging on hot. The trouble is, like all children, mine get bored sometimes so parental guidance may be recommended in order to keep the peace.
In order to create an entertaining and, hopefully, time consuming activity there are two things I need to keep in mind.
Firstly, Erin’s love of painting.

And secondly, Abi’s need to make mess.

Oh, I should probably add my own requirement, something that’s easy to clean up. With those three things in mind we recently tried something new, painting with cornflour paint/chalk paint.
All you need for a successful painting session is cornflour, water, food colour and some paint brushes. To make the chalk paint you simply add 2 parts cornflour to one part water along with a little dribble of food colouring. Mix it together, take it outside and let your kids run wild on the cement. Once they’re done you can just hose it off no worries!
